Learn to Drive
While you are planning to learn to drive in Manchester or elsewhere, you will want to know all about what it takes to pass your test. The website of the Driving Standards Agency is very helpful and you can find it by clicking here. The site includes lots of information on how to get started, the cost of tests and how to book them. I am also happy to help with all that information and you can find out more about your driving lessons here.
Prepare for Driving Lessons
First of all you must pass the driving theory test before booking the practical driving test.
- There are 2 parts to the theory test, which are both taken on the same day – hazard perception and multiple choice.
- You need to pass both to pass the theory test.
- can drive safely in different road and traffic conditions
- know the Highway Code and can show this through your driving ability
As long as you show the standard required, you’ll pass your driving test. There are no pass or fail quotas.
The practical driving test takes 40 minutes and is designed to see if you can drive safely in different road and traffic conditions and that you know the Highway Code and can show this through your driving ability.
The practical driving test is designed to show that you can drive competently and safely in a variety of situations. You’ll be asked to do one of the four reversing manoeuvres you’ve practised with your instructor, and possibly make an emergency stop.
In a 10 minute independent driving section you’ll be expected to show that you can make safe decisions without prompting. To pass your practical test you need to complete the test with no serious or dangerous faults and with 15 or fewer minor errors. As long as you show the standard required, you’ll pass your driving test. There are no pass or fail quotas.
But before you book your Practical Test, please check with a qualified instructor that you are ready, so you don’t waste money by requesting a test before you are ready to proficient enough to pass. If you have any more questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
